JETプログラムの先生（ニュージーランド人）が着任しました。

3学期より授業を担当します。

Hello everyone,

My name is Catherine Sheild, and beginning next year I will be your new Assistant Language Teacher. I am from New Zealand – I was born and raised in Whangarei, in the northernmost province of the North Island. I graduated from a university 10 hours away from my hometown, where I majored in Language Studies and studied other subjects such as Philosophy and Anthropology. I have come to Japan with the goal to immerse myself within the culture, the language and encourage those I teach to pursue the same in the cultures and languages of their interest. I know firsthand that learning and communicating in a new language can be difficult and quite scary. However I believe few things are as rewarding and life changing as building bonds with those from other cultures. When you see me around the school, please do not hesitate to approach me or ask me any questions you may have – whether it be about New Zealand, English or something else. I will do my best to answer. I hope I will be able to get to know many of you in the coming year. Thank you Tokyo Joshi Gakuin for allowing me the opportunity to be here. よろしくお願いします。

キャサリン先生はニュージーランドの北島Whangarei（ファンガレイ）のご出身です。

先生のスピーチより（抄訳）

「私は大学で外国語や哲学、人類学などを学びました。日本で生活することで

日常生活において日本文化や日本語に深く関わることで英語を学ぶ皆さんと

同じ気持ちになって寄り添っていけたらと考えています。

言語を学ぶことは最初はとても大変ですし、苦労もありますが、異文化や

言葉を通してきっと異文化との出会いにより人生を変えるような何か素敵なことが

あるのではないかと思っています。私を学校で見かけたら質問大歓迎です！
