ニュージーランド1年　Sさん

ニュージーランドに来てから3か月が経ちました。英語もだんだんと聞き取れるようなり、前に比べると大分話せるようになりました。

外国人の友達も沢山出来て毎日とても楽しいです。ニュージーランドは移民が多い国として知られているだけあって、髪の色も金髪から茶髪、黒髪まで本当に様々です。最近だとEasterがありました。日本では、Easterは海外に比べるとそこまで重要視されていなく、クリスマスやお正月のように盛大に祝うことがないので、ニュージーランドでEasterの一か月くらい前になるとスーパーマーケットやホームセンターでチョコエッグが沢山売られ始めていたのを見て、とても驚きました。私のホームステイ先では、大きなチョコエッグの中に沢山の小さなチョコエッグが入ったものをハンマーで割って、それを食べて楽しみました。また、ホストシスターなどからもサプライズで大きなチョコレートを貰いました。その他にもEasterのお祭りに行ったりもしました。その他にも、最近だとシェイクスピアの劇を見に行きました。劇の見方は立ち見、席に座って見る2パターンがあり、私たちは立ち見をしました。なぜなら、立ち見が1番料金が安いからです。そこの劇場は形状が東京ドームのようになっていて、１番高い所にある座席が値段も１番高く、位置が低くなるにつれて、値段も安くなっていくという仕組みでした。１番高い所にある座席は8000円以上すると聞いて、とても驚きました。

私の今月の一番の思い出は、holidayの期間中に外国人の友達と遊んだことです。せっかく外国人の友達がいるのだから一緒に遊びたいと思い、断られたらどうしようと不安に思いながらも、最終的には誘うことが出来ました。一緒に遊びたいと言ったことで、相手にもっと仲良くしたいという気持ちが伝わったのか今まで以上に親しくしてくれるようになり、本当に誘ってよかったと思いました。留学先では、自分から積極的に話しかけることが大事だとよく言いますが、本当にその通りだと感じました。自分から行動を起こさなければ浅い関係の友達は出来ても、それ以上の関係の友達は出来ません。留学してから今までと比べ物にならないくらいに色々な面で積極的になれて、とてもうれしく感じています。ここに来て３か月経ち、生活にもだんだんとなじむことが出来るようになり、今まで以上に勉強に集中出来るようになりました。３か月経った今でも、授業中に知らない英単語が出てきて戸惑うことは沢山ありますが、頑張っています。もう３か月も経ってしまったなんて信じられませんが、残りの7か月も頑張りたいと思います！！！

Three months have passed since I came to New Zealand.　I think my listening and speaking skills has improving gradually. It is very fun every day because I was able to make lots of friends. New Zealand is known as a country with many immigrants. So the color of the hair is really different with blonde hair, brown hair and dark hair. Recently, there was Easter. In Japan, Easter is not important compared to foreign country and it is not celebrated as grandly as Christmas and New Year. So, I was very surprised when I saw the many chocolate eggs were sold in the New Zealand’s supermarket and home center before about 1 month of the Easter. I broke a large chocolate egg with lots of small chocolate eggs with a hammer and ate it. I enjoyed it!　Also, I got a big chocolate from my host sister as a surprise. And I went to a festival of the Easter. By the way, do you know a ‘’Shakespeare‘’？　I watched the play in the small theater two weeks ago. There were two patterns of views. The first one is people watch the play sitting down. The second one is people watch the play standing up. we watched the play standing up because the way is the cheapest fee for watch the play…lol. The theater’s shape is like the Tokyo Dome and fee is depending on the position of the seat. I learned that the seat at the highest place costs 100$ or more and I was very surprised. My best memory from this month is that I played with my friends of foreigner during the holidays. I was able to make friends of foreigners, so I wanted to play with them, and I could invite them while hesitating. I can get along with them since that time and I was very happy. I thought it was really important to speak actively from myself. If you don’t take action from yourself, you can only make friends on the surface. I was able to be more active in a lot of different ways and I’m so glad. I got used to my present life and I have been able to concentrate more on studying than before.　I may be puzzled that some unknown English words still appear during the class, but I’m working hard.

I can’t believe already finished three months!! I will do my best for the remaining seven months!!!
