カナダ1年留学　Sさん

Hello. It’s been almost a half year since I came to Canada. In this month, many things happened. First, second semester and new classes have started. Now I have French, English, Health for life and Drama classes. In drama class, I do what I have never done in class before. It is like playing games and doing different things every time. We are going to perform in a play at some point. In English class, I am at Grade 11, but I have Grade 10 English. It’s not so hard and my teachers help me follow the class. But at first, I was struggling to read book I’m doing in the class now. I like the classes in this semester.

I did some volunteer work to help an event in town. The event had many vendors that sold comics, goods and so on. I carried heavy stuff of vendors and put wristbands on visitors’ wrist. There were many people who wore costumes and some people were cosplaying Japanese anime. I was impressed. I made a new friend who goes to the same school as me there. So that was a nice experience for me.

My host mother went to her home country, so I’m staying at another host family’s house while she is away. There is an International student from Switzerland in that house. We went to the gym together. That was my first time to go a gym and it was fun. I’m glad she lives in the same house. She speaks English fluently and talks to her host family a lot. I thought that’s why she speaks English very well, so I want to talk to them a lot like her.

I also went bowling, pool and a town nearby in this month. Some new Japanese students started to live in the neighborhood, and some go to my school and the others go to a nearby school and hang out with me often. We tend to speak in Japanese, but we are trying to speak in English to each other.

I think I enjoy life in Canada more than before. I want to keep studying English as well as studying at Japanese school.

カナダに来てからほとんど半年が経ちました！今月は色々な事が起きました。まずは2学期がスタートし、授業も全て変わって、あたらしい授業が始まりました！今はフランス語、英語、ドラマ、ヘルスフォーライフの授業があります。ドラマの授業では、今まで授業でしたことのないようことをやります。授業はゲームのような事をして遊んでるような感じで毎回違う事をします。いずれは、皆んなで劇をします。私はグレード11ですがグレード10の英語をもっています。そこまで授業は難しくなく、先生たちが授業についていけるようにフォローしてくれます。しかし最初は、授業でやっている本の内容を理解するのが大変でした。この学期の授業たちが好きです。

町のイベントを手伝うボランティアに参加しました。そこには漫画やグッツなどを売るブースがたくさんありました。ベンダーの重い荷物を運んだり、来客たちにリストバンドをつけたりしました。そこには沢山のコスプレをした人がいて、日本のアニメのコスプレをしてる人もいて感動しました。そこで同じ学校に通ってる新しい友達もできて、いい経験になりました。

私のホストマザーが国に帰って1週間いないので、違うホストファミリーの家に滞在しています。スイスからの留学生の子もいて、その子と一緒にジムに行きました。その時私はジム行くのが初めてでしたがたのしかったです。その子とに喋ったり、今度一緒に料理も作ろうと言ってて、ルームメイトになれて嬉しいです。その子はとても英語がペラペラで、ホストにも沢山喋りかけていて、たくさん英語を自分から話してるからこんなにうまいのかなと思い、私もマネしてもっと自分から沢山話そうと思いました。

ボウリングやプール、隣町などに今月は行きました。日本の留学生が同じ学校や近くの学校に新しく来て、よく遊んだりしています。一緒にいると日本語で喋りがちになってしまいますが、お互いなるべく英語で喋ろうとしています。

前よりもカナダの生活がを楽しんでいると思います。英語も日本の勉強も頑張りたいと思います。
