カナダ5カ月留学　Kさん

I’m taking an ESL class. This was my first time giving a presentation in an ESL class. It was a presentation about events in my country. I was very nervous about giving a presentation in front of people who speak English well.  However, after I finished my presentation, my classmates said that my English was better than when I first started.  I didn’t feel that my English-speaking skills had improved much.  So, I was very happy about that. In multimedia classes, I create works using various applications.  At first, I had no idea how to use the application. However, recently I started to understand it and realized that I have grown.  I started taking fashion classes in November. Fashion class involves sewing. There are many technical terms, and it often takes time to understand.  However, with the help of my teachers and friends, I am able to submit my assignments. In the photography class, I can now set up camera for myself.  I am now able to take better photos than when I first started.  This is a class with many assignments. But I am working with a group of people. It’s an accomplishment. I am learning various things at school. They’re something I can’t learn at Japanese schools.  I will continue to spend my time being grateful to my classes, friends, and teachers. I want to make new friends. This is because I don’t have many Canadian friends.  I’m planning to join a club at school. I plan to continue studying for the entrance exam.  I will do my best in both studying and school activities.

初めに前回書くことが出来なかったのでハロウィンについて書きます。私の学校では半分以上の人が仮装を楽しんでいました。私はウェンズデーの仮装をしました。友達とお菓子を渡し合ったり、先生にお菓子を頂いたりしました。仮装をすることで色々な人に話しかけて貰い嬉しかったです。夜はルームメイトの子と家の周りの家にトリックオアトリートをしに行きました。知らない人の家に訪問するのは様々な不安が重なり緊張しましたがどの家の方も優しくて安心しました。私が日本人だと気づいて日本語を話してくれる方もいて嬉しかったです。

11月の初めはリメンバランス・デーという戦争で亡くなった兵士に敬意を表し追悼する日がありました。私は学校と市の式典に参加しました。11月は他に行事はありませんでしたが様々なアクティビティに挑戦しました。今まで学校のクラブなどに参加したことが無かったので女子ゲーミングのアクティビティに参加したり、スケート靴を買って週に一度、友達とスキーをしたりするなど新しいに多く挑戦しました。また、クリスマスのイベントに参加するためにホストファミリーと住んでいるところから少し離れた場所にも行きました。留学に来てから住んでいる市を出たことがなかったので全てが新鮮で新しい発見もありました。
