カナダ1年留学　Hさん

　It’s been about 3 months since I came to Canada.　Canada is so cold that it can’t be compared to Japan.　It’s a little depressing to think that it will get colder in December.　Recently, a winter formal event is approaching, so everyone around me, including me, is very busy.　Winter formal is an event where 12th graders can mainly participate and enjoy dancing and high-class meals.　The participants’ clothes are a little strict with dresses or suits. For that reason, everyone is very busy buying dresses, as well as bags and shoes to match them.　I can participate because my friend’s 12th grader invited me, but recently I’ve been very busy preparing for it.　However, it’s something that can’t be experienced in Japan, so I’m really looking forward to it while preparing.　I went to see the dress with my friends, and every dress was really nice.　I feel a little guilty because it costs a lot of money, but I want to enjoy it a lot with my friends.

In addition, I was able to go to watch soccer, hockey, and basketball games with my friends this month.　I also went to a facility where I could throw axes that I was a little curious about, ice skating with my friends, and playing badminton.　I feel like I’ve become a little active this month and have done a lot of things that can only be done in Canada.

Also, I was able to get along with my roommate at homestay and feel my growth.　I feel like I haven’t been able to communicate enough with my friends and homestay family, so I would like to do my best.

カナダに来てから約3ヶ月が経ちました。カナダは日本とは比べられないほどすごく寒いです。12月に入るともっと寒くなると思うと少し憂鬱です。最近ではウィンターフォーマルというイベントが迫っているため私を含め周りのみんなは大忙しです。

ウィンターフォーマルとは12年生が主に参加することができ、ダンスや高級な食事を楽しめるイベントです。参加者の服装はドレスかスーツと少し厳しいです。そのためにみんなドレスはもちろん、それに合わせた鞄や靴を買うことで大忙しです。私は友達の12年生が招待してくれたため参加することができるのですが、ここ最近はその準備で大忙しです。

ただなかなか日本では経験できないことなので準備をしながらとても楽しみにしています。

友達とドレスを見に行ったのですが本当にどのドレスもとても素敵でした。なかなかお金がかかるので少し罪悪感もありますが友達たちと沢山楽しみたいと思います。

その他には今月は友達と友達のサッカー、ホッケー、そしてバスケの試合を見に行くことができました。また少し気になっていた斧を投げることができる施設に行ったり、友達とアイススケートに行ったり、バドミントンをしたり、バンクーバーに行ったりしました。

今月は少し活動的になってカナダでしかできないようなことがたくさんできたように感じます。

また、ホームステイしている家のルームメイトとも打ち解けることができて、自分の成長を感じることができました。まだまだ友達やホームステイしている家族と充分にコミュニケーションが取れていないように感じるので頑張りたいと思います。
