カナダ1年留学　Iさん

　3 month have passed since I came to Canada. When I came to Canada, I was worried about living in Canada for 10 month, but now, on the contrary, I feel impatient that it’s already been 3month.

   Recently, I’ve gotten used to classes, and I’m glad that I feel that I’ve become faster to understand contents. Also, I’m getting used to the homework and I’m getting used to it smoothly.

   I was in the basketball club, but Canadian club activities are divided by season, and I only do for about 3mont, so the basketball club activities ended at the beginning of this month. There were a lot of differences from Japanese basketball, so it was a lot of fun.

   In November, we had a dance party. It was my first dance party in my life, and it was first time wearing a dress and heels, so I was so tired that I couldn’t walk the next day. However, it was a dreamlike experience, as we put on the makeup together and danced in the dark, just like high school life overseas as seen in the movies.

   In my school, there are three Japanese international students, but all three of them will go back to Japan in December, so I’m a little lonely. But I think it’s an opportunity to improve my English skill in an environment where there are no Japanese at all, so I will continue to do my best. 

カナダに来てから、3ヶ月が経過しました。最初の頃は10ヶ月もカナダで生活をすることに不安を感じていましたが、今は逆にもう3ヶ月も経ってしまったんだと焦りを感じるようになりました。

　最近は授業にも慣れてきて、内容を理解するのが速くなったのを感じていて嬉しいです。課題もだんだん慣れてきて、スムーズにこなせるようになってきました。

　私はバスケ部に入っていたのですが、カナダの部活は季節ごとに分かれていて、約3ヶ月しか活動しないので、バスケ部の活動は今月の上旬に終わってしまいました。日本のバスケと違うところが沢山あったので、とても楽しかったです。

　11月はダンスパーティーがありました。人生で初めてのダンスパーティーで、ドレスを着るのもヒールを履くのも初めてだったので、翌日は歩けなくなるほど疲れました。しかし、みんなで一緒にメイクをしあったり、暗闇の中で踊ったり、映画で見るような海外の高校生活のようで夢のような体験でした。とても楽しかったです。

　私の学校には私以外に日本人の留学生が3人いたのですが、3人とも12月中に帰国してしまうので少し寂しいです。ですが、逆に日本人が全くいない環境で英語を伸ばすチャンスだと思ってこれからも頑張りたいです。
