カナダ1年留学　Sさん

Two months have passed since I came to Canada! I did pumpkin carving at my school. The pumpkin was so big! So I was wondering if I could carve it, but I was able to carve it easier than I thought. I could bring it home, and I put it in front of my house to decorate.  On Halloween, lots of students came to school in costume and lots of children came to trick or treat at my house in the evening and I gave candies to them. Children never came to my house in Japan on Halloween. That day was so fun!!

I have gotten used to life here and I don’t really miss Japan as much as before.

I went to a Japanese restaurant with my friends in my city and ate sushi rolls. It was so good. My friends ordered ramen and udon. I’m surprised that lots of Canadians know  Japanese foods and like them than I imagined.

I made a project about my country and myself which I introduced to elementary school kids. I went to the their school and spoke about Japan and I in the ESL class. The children listened intently. I was glad to hear some kids say Tokyo and Japan are cool looking when tjeu saw my project.

It was Rememberance Day on 11 November, which is also known as Poppy Day. This is a day to remember and pay honor to those who died in the war. Everyone put poppy brooches on their clothing and I was wondering why so many people were wearing the same brooches, but I realized it was for Rememberance Day. A ceremony for Remembrance Day was held at my school.

It’s been three months since I came to Canada. I want to do my best until July.

カナダに来てから2ヶ月が経ちました！私は学校でかぼちゃを切り抜くパンプキンカービングをしました。かぼちゃがとても大きかったので彫れるかなと思いましたが、思ったより簡単にできました。作ったかぼちゃを持って帰って、家の前に飾りました。ハロウィンの日は、沢山の学生が仮装をして学校に来ていて、夜に沢山の子供たちがトリックオアトリートをしに家に来て、お菓子をあげました。とても楽しい日でした！

最近ここの生活に慣れてきたからか、前より日本がとても恋しいと思わなくなりました。

この間、街にある日本食レストランに友達と行き、寿司ロールをたべて、おいしかったです。友達はうどんやラーメンを頼んでいました。ここに来て、想像以上に沢山のカナダの人が日本食を知っていて、日本食が好きな人が多いことに驚いています！

英語の授業で、小学校に行って自分の国や自分の事について、小学生たちに紹介するプロジェクトがありました。皆真剣に聞いてくれて、何人かが東京や日本のことをかっこいい！と言っていてうれしかったです。

11月の11日はリメンバーランスデイ(またはポピーデイ)といって、戦争中になくなた人に敬意を示し忘れないための日でした。皆、ポピーにブローチを服に付けていて、なんで皆花のブローチをつけているんだろうと思っていましたが、この日のためなんだと気がつきました。学校の授業でリメンバーランスデイのセレモニーが行われました。

カナダに来てもうすぐ3ヶ月たちます。7月まで頑張りたいと思います！
