カナダ1年留学　Sさん

One month has passed since I came to Canada! I feel time passes quickly.

I went to Ottawa with my host mother. Ottawa had lots of beautiful buildings of British style. I saw the Peace Tower which is famous in Ottawa. There was a river which borders Ontario and Quebec and that view was so beautiful. I bought clothes and bubble tea. I enjoyed it. I really wanted Beaver Tails, which is a famous sweet snack in Canada, but the store’s machine for credit card was broken, unfortunately. I couldn’t buy it. I want to go there again and buy it.

I felt homesick.  I cried because I thought I wouldn’t get used to despite it already having been one month. But I found good parts about Canada gradually. It is fall now and the trees turn red or yellow. They are so beautiful. There is also a lot of nature here. I can see a large river, many trees and birds. I like having lunch outside. I’m enjoying this season! I’m so excited to experience winter in Canada.

It was Thanksgiving Day on October 9th. The day is an annual Canadian holiday when family gets together and expresses thanks for family and foods and so on. My host mother’s family came to our house on the weekend. We went out to eat and went shopping. I ate lunch with my host family on Thanksgiving Day on Monday. I heard that my friends went to their family’s house and ate turkey. I was glad to experience that day.

I’ve been getting used to school and I have more nice friends. I’m getting better at understanding what the teachers say, but the students speak too fast so it’s still hard for me to understand. I’d like to speak English and improve not only listening but also speaking.

カナダに来てもう1ヶ月が過ぎました！時が過ぎるのがとても早く感じます。ホストマザーと一緒にオタワへ行きました。ブリティッシュ風の綺麗な建物が沢山ありました。オタワで有名なピースタワーを見ました。ケベックとオンタリオの境目の川がありそこの景色がとても良かったです。服やタピオカを買いました。とても楽しかったです。私はカナダの有名なスイーツのビーバーテイルが欲しかったのですが、残念なことに、クレジットカード用の決済の機械が壊れていて買えませんでした…。また来た時に絶対に買いたいです。

私はホームシックになって、もう1ヶ月も経ったのにまだ慣れられてないのかと泣いてしまいました。ですが徐々にカナダの良いところに気づきました。今は秋で沢山の木たちが紅葉して、とても綺麗です。それとここには沢山の自然があって、大きな川や、沢山の木や鳥たちがいます。私は外でランチをするのが大好きです。この季節を楽しんでいます！カナダの冬を体験するのがとても楽しみです！！

Thanksgiving Dayが10月6日にありました。その日は毎年あるカナダの祝日で、家族で集まって家族や食べ物などに感謝する日です。ホストマザーの家族が週末に家に来て、一緒に外食に行ったり、ショッピングをしました。月曜日のThanksgiving day の日にはホスファミリーと一緒に家でお昼ご飯を食べました。私の友達も家族の家に行ったり、ターキーを食べたりして祝ったそうです。この日を体験できてうれしかったです！

学校にも慣れてきて、いい友達も増えました。先生が授業で言っていることはだんだん分かってきたのですが、現地の学生が言ってることは早過ぎて聞き取るのがまだ難しいです。もっと英語を話して、聞き取りだけでなくスピーキングも上達させたいです。
