カナダ5カ月留学　Kさん

I chose multimedia, photography classes and ELL classes.  In the multimedia class, we are learning about typography.  Practical skills include making posters, turning black and white photos into color, and creating logos.  I use a lot of apps and tools that I have never used before.  It is very difficult.  But I have gained a lot of knowledge. In order to use these, I study by watching videos and reading websites.  I’ve been able to do more things than when I first started.  I’m happy.  I feel such a sense of accomplishment.  It is fun.  In the photography class, we mainly take worksheets and photos.  Photographs need to be of people.  I get permission from people who I do not know, and l take picture for them. I asked 50 people about it in one month.  A lot of the students are very kind.  It’s an opportunity English communication practice for me. I made a lot of mistakes, but I got a lot of encounters. I don’t study mathematics or social studies at school.  These subjects are important for entrance exams.  I have to study independently.  I would like to continue studying independently. In ELL class we learn about English.  For example, communication, sentence writing, paraphrasing, etc. There are many international students in the ELL class. Practicing pronunciation is the most difficult part. I also go on field trips from time to time.  I made friends from international students in this class. I will start studying fashion next month.  I’m looking forward to it.

カナダに来てから約2ヶ月が経ちました。カナダでは10月の第2月曜日にサンクスギビングという祝日があります。収穫に感謝をする日で、家族などの大切な人と特別な食事を一緒に食べてお祝いします。私のホストファミリーの家ではホストマザーとファザーの両親が集まり昼食と夕食を一緒に食べました。10月の有名なイベントとしてハロウィンがあります。ハロウィンの準備としてジャック・オー・ランタンを作りました。また、ハロウィンのお化け屋敷に友達と行きました。遊園地の様なお化け屋敷ではないですが、作り手の努力が伝わってくる楽しいお化け屋敷でした。私の通っているLCIでは任意ですが仮装をする日が決まっています。レポートの締め切りの関係で当日の様子をレポートに書くことが出来ませんが良い日を過ごすことが出来ると思います。行事の他にあった出来事は主に２つです。一つ目は子猫が4匹、ホストファミリーの家に来ました。飼うわけではなく2週間の間預かるという形です。私は猫と暮らしてみたいという小さな夢があったのでとても幸せでした。ですが、猫に触った手が腫れるというアレルギー症状に似たものを発症しました。日本に帰ったらアレルギー検査を受けようと思います。二つ目は友達と映画に行きました。テイラー・スウィフトのライブ「THE ERAS TOUR」の映像を収めたコンサートフィルム「テイラー・スウィフト: THE ERAS TOUR」を観ました。ライブ映像だった為、小さな子供などがスクリーンの前に集まり一緒に歌っていました。海外ならではだなと思っていましたが、調べてみるとその様な鑑賞の仕方が少し問題になっていることがわかりました。カナダで新しいことや日本と違うことに出会うとこれがカナダのスタイルなんだなと勝手に思ってしまうことがいくつかありました。ですが今回のことで受け身になるだけではなく自分から調べることも大切だと思い出しました。10月は遊びに焦点を当て過ぎていたので11月は勉強に集中していきたいと思います。
