STUDY ABROAD IN CANADA

~Canada’s life~

<Work Signal> 

We have to push a button. 

Whenever the signal changes music always plays. 

We can cross the street when the signal becomes a notation that people are running. 

The signal counts, we have to cross by the end of the count. 

<How to eat> 

We use a fork, spoon, and knife. 

Don’t use a chopsticks 

Breakfast → •Cereal 

                        •Yogurt 

                        •Pancakes 

 Lunch → •Sandwiches 

                          •Hot dogs 

                           •Yogurt 

                           •Hamburgers 

Dinner→ •Meat  

                           •Salad 

                           •Pizza 

<How to take a bus> 

Pay $2.50 and we can ride for 1day. 

By buying a bus pass ($45), we can ride for one month. 

Bicycles can be put on the front of the bus. 

Say thank. You when we get off. 

<School (in IGK)> 

There are break times of15minutes each in the morning and afternoon Classes. 

We can eat some snacks at break time. 

There is coffee and tea in the school, and er can drink it freely. 

Feel   Free to drink water during class. 

We don’t need permission to use the restroom during class. 

Desks are face-to-face, and there is a lot of time to share opinions. 

<Canadian money> 

Canadian money has $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100 5cents, 10cents 25cents total 10. 

Each bill has multiple designees. 

Canadian capsule toys and UFO catchers use $2 coins. 

<Shopping & Restaurant> 

Many shops only accept cash cards. 

Even if we can lay in cash, there are many shops that cannot accept $50 or $100. 

We may pay a tip. 

Inman cases, we cannot, get a receipt unless you ask for it. 

<Kelowna Terrain> 

Roads are wide. 

There are often parking lots on both side of the road. 

<Houses> 

Canadian houses are wide, and many have a ground floor and semi-basement structure. 

Many houses have large gardens. 

<Others> 

We don’t wear a mask. 

Personal clothes or polo shirts or shirt made by the company are worn, pants and skirts are not decide. 

There are scooter and bicycles that can be borrowed for free on the road.  

＜感想＞ 

　カナダに来て1ヶ月。自分の英語に自信がもつことができず、自分から率先してコミュニケーションを取ることができませんでした。ホストファミリーは日本に興味を持っていて日本についてたくさんの質問をしてくれました。伝えたいことはたくさんあるのに単語がわからず、伝えられなかったことがすごくショックでした。やること全てが初めてなことばかりで不安と緊張でいっぱいでしたがホストペアレントが困ったことがあったらなんでも聞いて。といってくださりすごく安心しました。日常生活の中での基本的な英語はもちろん、質問の仕方や英語で話すコツなどを実際に現地で体験できるのは凄いことだと改めて感じました。 

　日本とカナダの文化の違いにもたくさんの発見と学びがありました。またIGK(International Gatway Kelowna)の通うことで英語を学ぶことだけでなく、多くの国の方々とお話することができました。偶然ではありますがウクライナの方々がたくさん通学していて戦争の辛さとウクライナの方々の思いを身近に学ぶことができました。 

 一ヶ月はとても大変でしたがそれ以上に新しい発見がとても楽しく、充実していたい思います。これからはもっとスムーズに英語で会話できるように自分から積極的にコミュニケーションをとっていきたいと思います。あと2ヶ月しかありませんが多くのことを吸収してより良い留学期間にしていけるように日々頑張っていきたいと思います。
