It’s been almost four months since I came here.  November has passed faster than ever.  I’m scared that it will soon be New Year’s Eve before I know it.  Everyone has been in the Christmas spirit for a month now, so I thought it was too fast.  I also decorated the Christmas tree and put up illuminations outside, and I felt that America was really big.  Everyone puts stockings to get presents, but when I said I didn’t have one, my friend’s mom made a stocking with my name on them, which made me very happy.  I thought the Christmas stockings are called Socks, but it’s called Stockings.  So I was surprised.  This month had Thanksgiving.  The holiday celebrates first person who came to America.  On the holiday, we eat a sumptuous dinner and play games together.  I went to buffet with my friends before Thanksgiving.  There were carrot cakes.  It looked good, but the taste was weird.  It seems that on Thanksgiving day they mainly eat turkeys, but I was surprised because there were so many dishes I saw for the first time.  There were also a dish with crushed bread.  The taste was so good.  At the game, we played survival games and a slap game with nachos.  It was so funny.  I was glad to get a nail chipper.  Also there were so many people gathered there, and I was happy that everyone said they like Japanese anime and culture, and there were people who were learning Japanese.  I thought that Asian culture is more widespread in the United States than I thought.  I was surprised that some people talked about K-pop and K dramas.  The Thanksgiving was such fun.  I realized lately, America has three weeks of winter break, three weeks of spring break, and three months of summer break.  The fall break was about two weeks.  I think we need more breaks in Japan.  This month, I went to Bryce Canyon, where it was too cold, so I stopped hiking and climbed the mountain by car.  But I was surprised by the magnificent scenery.  It was snowing and I felt that it was cold on the mountain.  I wanted to see some animal footprints in the snow.  I was surprised that there was a mountain lion in the animal list.  It was mysterious because there were many animals.  I heard the footprints were rabbits.  I want to see mountain lions.  Also, we made a campfire.   It seems that it will start raining next month, so it was the last time we can make a campfire.  I also played a tic tac toe with charcoal from the fire.  At the end, I also ate S’more and it was very good.  And I went to my friend’s birthday party.  In America, it’s like having your own birthday party and inviting friends, but I was surprised by the very luxurious place of the pool venue. My friend was very good at singing and karaoke in front of everyone.  It was amazing.  This is a surprising story, the attitude in class in Japan and America is completely different.  Everyone is eating snacks and listening to music.  I was most surprised when my friend started to open the pomegranate with ruler.  It was funny that the teacher also ate it together.  In America, there are no school rules compared to Japan, and when I shared stories about Japanese school rules, my friends were very confused.  This month, I went to MacDonald’s in America for the first time, and the taste was completely different from Japan.  The shake was very delicious, but Japan has more menu options.  Also, my pencil case broke.  I went to Walmart, but I couldn’t find a good replacement, so l went to an Asian market and, to my surprise, found an Anpanman pencil case!  It was so cute that I bought it.

I also went to see Moana 2. It was tough to catch everything in English, but my listening skills have definitely improved compared to when I first arrived, which made me happy.  It was my first time at an American movie theater, and I found it amusing that everyone was just casually talking during the movie.  Time really flew by this month, so I want to cherish each and every day.

アメリカに来て4か月が経とうとしています。11月は今までで1番早く感じました。気づいたら年を越していそうで怖いです。みんな一か月前からクリスマスモードで早いなと思いました。私の家もクリスマスツリーを飾ったり外にイルミネーションを飾ったりしていてやっぱりアメリカは規模が大きいなと感じました。クリスマスツリーにはみんなプレゼントを貰うための靴下を飾るのですが、持っていないと言ったら友達のお母さんが名前入りの靴下を作ってくれて嬉しかったです。クリスマス用の靴下はソックスだと思っていたのですがみんなストッキングと言っていて驚きました。

今月はサンクスギビングという祝日があってアメリカに初めて来た人をお祝いする行事だそうです。サンクスギビングではおもに豪華なご飯を食べたりみんなでゲームをしたりします。サンクスギビングの前に友達とバイキングに行ったのですが、にんじんケーキというものがありました。見た目はにんじんで可愛いのですが味は美味しくなかったです。サンクスギビングは主にターキーなどを食べるそうですが、初めてみる料理が沢山あって驚きました。パンを潰した料理もありました。味はすごく美味しかったです。ゲームではサバイバルゲームとナチョスでビンタをするゲームをしました。爪切りをゲットできて嬉しかったです。またそこには沢山人が集まっていたのですがみんな日本のアニメや文化が好きだと言ってくれたり、日本語を学んでいる人もいて嬉しかったです。アメリカでは思っていたよりもアジアの文化が広まっているんだと思いました。みんなKPOPアイドルの話をしたり韓ドラをみたりで驚きました。サンクスギビングとても楽しかったです‼︎

最近分かったのですが、アメリカは冬休みが3週間、春休みも3週間、夏休みは3か月あるそうです。秋休みは2週間くらいでした。日本ももっと休みを増やすべきだなと思いました。

今月はブライスキャニオンに行きました。寒すぎたのでハイキングはやめて車で山を登ったのですが景色が壮大で驚きました。雪も積もっていて山の上はやっぱり寒いんだなと感じました。雪になにかの動物の足跡があって見てみたいと思いました。動物リストみたいなのにマウンテンライオンというのがいてびっくりしました。色んな動物が生息して神秘的でした。多分あの足跡はウサギだと言っていました。マウンテンライオン見てみたいです。

またキャンプファイヤーをやりました。来月から雨が降り始めるそうでキャンプファイヤーができるのは最後だそうです。火から出た炭でマルバツゲームもしました。最後はスモアも食べて最高に美味しかったです。また、友達の誕生日パーティーにも行きました。アメリカでは自分で誕生日パーティーを開いて友達を招待するような形式なのですが、プール会場でとても豪華な場所で驚きました。誕生日の子はみんなの前で歌っていたりカラオケをしていたりしていてとても上手でした。人も沢山いて凄かったです。

これは驚いた話なのですが日本とアメリカでは授業態度がまったく違います。みんなお菓子を食べていたり音楽を聴いていたりしています。1番驚いたのは友達が定規でざくろを開け始めたときです。先生も開けたザクロを一緒に食べていて面白かったです。アメリカでは日本と真逆くらい校則が無くて日本の校則の話をしたらとても驚かれました。今月はアメリカに来て初めてマックに行ったのですが日本と全く味が違いました。シェイクがとても美味しかったです。種類は日本の方が多かったです。また、筆箱が壊れました。ウォルマートに行っても全然なかったのでアジアンマーケットに行ったらなんとアンパンマンがいました。可愛いので買いました。モアナ2も見に行きました。

英語で聞き取るのは大変でしたが来た時よりもリスニングが上がっていて嬉しかったです。アメリカの映画館は初めて行ったのですがみんな普通に話していて面白かったです。今月は本当に時間が経つのが早かったので1日1日を大切にしていきたいです。
