NZ　Sさん（October）

　This month marks the end of my study abroad experience. It’s October and the fourth term has begun. However, the fourth term was only three weeks long, so it went by really quickly. The dance studio had a recital in early October. It was a very fulfilling experience creating dances together with everyone and learning various dances. I’m glad I was able to make some wonderful memories with everyone at the end. We also went to the “Hobiton Movie Set Tours” on a school trip. This is a famous tourist spot in New Zealand, and is home to the sets used in the movie “Lord of the Rings”. It was a place I had wanted to go to ever since I came to NZ, so I was glad I finally got to go. Each piece was so detailed and so cute. I also went to “Waitomo Glowworm Caves” in early October. This is also a very famous tourist spot in NZ and it was great to be able to see so many beautiful caves. I was surprised to see so many glowworms, it was so magical. I never thought insects could look so beautiful. I participated in some volunteer work at the end of October. I volunteered as a therapy dog trainer. This time I went to a nursing home. Seeing the two dogs performing tricks and wagging their tails brought a smile to many people’s faces, and it really brought home to me the incredible power of dogs. It wasn’t easy to contact and find volunteers on my own, but I’m really glad I was able to volunteer in the end. This past year has seemed long, but it has gone by in a flash. I met a lot of wonderful people, participated in many tournaments, went to America with my favorite teammates, saw a lot of beautiful scenery in New Zealand, and was blessed with a great host family, so I think I had a truly fulfilling study abroad experience. Of course there were difficult times, but now I can look at them as good experiences, and what’s more, there were so many fun things that I’ve forgotten about such as the hardships of the past. I am truly grateful to the people in New Zealand who supported me during my time abroad, and to my parents and school for allowing me to study abroad. I honestly can’t believe that my time abroad is over and I’m sad, but I want to make good use of what I learned here in my future life.

今月で留学生活も終わりになります。

10月になり4学期が始まりました。しかし4学期は3週間だけなので本当にあっという間でした。10月の上旬にダンススタジオの発表会がありました。みんなと一緒にダンスを作ったり、いろんなダンスを覚えたりしてとても充実してました。素敵な思い出を最後にみんなと作ることが出来て良かったです。また学校の小旅行で「Hobiton Movie Set Tours」に行きました。ここはNZでも有名な観光スポットで映画「ロード•オブ•ザ•リング」で使われたセットがあるというところです。NZに来てからずっと行ってみたかったところだったので最後に行くことが出来てよかったです。どのつくりも本当に細かく出来ていてとても可愛かったです。また10月の上旬に「Waitomo Glowworm Caves 」にも行きました。ここもNZでとても有名な観光スポットで綺麗な洞窟が沢山みれて良かったです。「Glowworms = ツチボタル」が沢山いてとても幻想的で驚きました。虫がこんなに綺麗に見えるとは思いませんでした。

10月の下旬にはボランティア活動を行いました。セラピー犬のボランティアをしました。今回は老人ホームに行きました。2匹の犬が芸をしたり尻尾を振っている姿を見て沢山の人が笑顔になっていて犬たちの力は凄いなと改めて感じました。

自分で連絡をしたり、ボランティアを見つけるのは簡単ではなかったけど最後にボランティアをすることが出来て本当に良かったです。

この一年間長いようで本当にあっという間でした。沢山の素敵な人と出会って沢山の大会に出て、大好きなチームメイトとアメリカにも行くことが出来て、NZの素晴らしい景色を沢山みることができて、ホストファミリーにも恵まれて、本当に充実した留学生活が送れたと思います。もちろん辛いこともありましたが、今ではそれも良い経験と言えるしそれ以上に楽しいことがありすぎて過去のつらいことなど今となっては忘れました。私の留学生活をサポートしてくれたNZの人たち、また留学に行かせてくれた両親、学校に本当に感謝しかないです。本当にもう留学生活が終わってしまうのは信じられないし寂しいけれど留学で学んだことを今後の生活にしっかりと生かしていきたいと思います。
